Generation G-phi-G

by Andre Butler | Uncategorized

Our generation (those born in the 70s, 80s and 90s) has been labeled generation X, because we’ve got all these problems and no one knows what will become of us.

When some see young people coming they think “uh oh, trouble,” because that’s how we’ve been labeled.

I want to tell you the world has made a mistake in labeling us Generation X. This world may be getting worse, but God is raising up a generation of faith-walking, devil-stomping, Holy Ghost-speaking believers who will glorify him. I call this generation, Generation G phi G, because we are a generation that glorifies God.

A Chosen Generation
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who called you out of the darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

God has very definite expectations for this generation. God wants to see more believers walking in prosperity, more signs and wonders done in the church and more people reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have seen revivals in this country, but God expects even greater works from us.

You may say, “That sounds good for my generation as a whole, but what does that have to do with me personally?” Well, we are all a part of the Holy Ghost machine and each part must do what God designed for it do so that it can work efficiently.

Paul’s Vision
In Acts 26:13-18, we learn about God’s plan for Paul. We see in verse 14 that God spoke in Paul’s native language. God knows how to talk to you in a way that you can understand him. He won’t say, “Thus sayeth the Lord, I asketh ye to do certain things.” He’ll say “Get yourself down there and do this,” because He knows you’ll understand that.

Jesus says to Paul (who was called Saul), “…it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.” Basically, Jesus is saying, “Look Saul, you are going against me and you’re making your life hard.”

Just like Paul, maybe God has a plan for you, but because someone told you from their opinion it was a bad idea you shouldn’t to do it. When you resist God, you are kicking the pricks, making your life harder.

Paul followed God’s plan and became one of the greatest men on earth. If God had a plan for Paul, he has a plan for you. God has used past generations to do great things, but he wants us to take it to the next level. Some may not like the idea of taking on such a great responsibility, but God has given it to us, so let’s take it and run with it.
