God Loves You

by Deborah Butler | The Anointed Word

“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises” (Heb. 8:6 KJV).

I believe one of the major reasons why we have not seen just what they saw in the Old Testament of God’s love is because we don’t know how to love. We don’t understand how much God loves us and we don’t love people. We pick and choose who we want to love.

The Bible says that God is love…so you can then use the word “love” in the place of God and say that Love so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, the Son of Love.

He gave so that we can be saved. God is about adding good to your life. He is not subtracting good from you. One of the reasons we don’t get into His presence and receive what He has for us is that we think we are going to lose something. In God, if you lose something it is only because that something was bad and you wanted it gone from your life.

God is not in the business of taking the good from you. He will multiply the good you have. God loves us so much that He moved heaven and earth for us. We need to understand His love. The way we do that is to dwell on Him, and mediate scriptures that speak of His love.

When we spend time meditating the scriptures concerning the love of God, we will see that God is better to us than anyone on earth. Most people have had someone in their life that loved them so much that if they needed anything they could always go to them…they would do whatever they could do to make things better for them.

Well, how much more will God do! He will go far over and above any human being. After all, He is God, and He is love. He is better to you than He was even to those in the Old Testament.

We look at the people in the Bible and think they are so blessed. Yes, they had a good covenant with God. But the Bible tells us that we have a better covenant than theirs. Their covenant was based on the blood of animals. Our covenant is based on the blood of the Son of love.

We have a much better covenant. It didn’t say a different covenant; we have all that they had under their covenant plus much more. So we need to operate in love and deal with things the way God deals with them. The only way we’ll know how to do that is by hearing the Word, believing the Word, saying the Word, and staying in church.
