“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and over come, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning” (2 Peter 2:20).
Did you know that everything about the world’s system is polluted? Its financial, health, political, and reward systems are all polluted. Absolutely, everything that man has created is contaminated. However, God’s word tells us we can escape the pollutions of this world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Now that’s good news. When we know Jesus, then we can follow Him and reject the world’s way of doing things. You see, God has His own method of doing things. In Matthew, chapter six, the phrase “the kingdom of God,” means “God’s way of doing things.” And you better believe that God’s way is the best way. His ways are totally different than the world’s system.
God’s way of finding a spouse, handling money, living your life, and raising your children is different than the way society does it. Everything with God is different and it should be reflected in the lives of Christians. We ought to look different, sound different, and act different. Then the world will be drawn to you because of Jesus on the inside of you.
But then this verse tells us, “…they are again entangled and overcome.” That means a person can go back and get wrapped up in the world again and their latter end is worse than in the beginning. Why? “For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness” (see 2 Peter 2:21).
In other words, once you find out God’s way in a particular area, don’t turn back on it. I don’t care what area it is: physically, mentally, financially, or socially. God’s ways will always lead you to victory in every area of your life.
Just think about it. What would you go back to? Is it to being broke, sick, messed up, and full of fear? Would you go back to an unsure future of not knowing where you will spend eternity? Why would you go back to that? Listen, once you have tasted the best, the rest will no longer do.
So don’t hang on to some areas and then leave others areas behind you. That’s being selective and God can’t bless that. Allow God’s word to operate in every area of your life and forsake the world’s way of doing things once and for all.
Remember, God’s way is the best way and will lead you to victory everyday.
