“In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction” (Job 33:15-16 NKJ).
Guidance while sleeping. Does that sound mystical? Esoteric? Metaphysical? Does it sound practical? Are you willing to trust God to provide you with guidance and direction while you are sound asleep?
This verse is meant to assist people who are facing major decisions, but who must cope with myriad distractions. You have a serious decision to make. The phone is ringing off the wall. People are continually asking you, “What are you going to do? Have you made up your mind yet? Which way are you going to go?”
You have the heavy responsibility of making the right decision. You also have a lot of pressure placed upon you by those around you who want to know what you are going to do. If that is your situation right now, take heart. This verse promises divine assistance in the whole matter.
Here the writer assures us that God is going to speak to us. In a dream. In a vision. In the night when deep sleep falls upon us. He will open our ears to hear. He will seal up our instruction. He will even warn us if we need warning. All this through the sleep process.
When the phone rings incessantly and all you hear is, “What are you going to do?” your response should be, “Sleep on it!” Good answer!
