When you flip a coin, 50% of the time it will be heads and 50% of the time it will be tails. You have no choice. It’s determined strictly by chance.
Your life should be different. It should not be determined by chance. As a Christian, we should always be the head and never the tail.
Personally, I do not have a pet animal that I keep inside my house. However, I have friends that do. I have made this great observation over the years. When they enter the house and see their pet, they hug, kiss and look at their pet’s face. They talk to their pet as they look into its eyes and you can sense the love they have for their animal. But the observation is this. Everything involves the head. The other end does not receive the same respect!
In life, it’s much the same way. If you are considered prosperous, people will treat you with respect and honor, just like the head. If you live in poverty, you will be avoided just like the tail. Trust me. Being the head is better than being the tail.
As Christians, we are expected to influence the world for Jesus. Our desire should be to send missionaries throughout the world with sufficient supply so that they can do the work of the Gospel and not be distracted by fundraising.
Christians should be humble, but humility is not poverty. But being humble does not mean that you are in poverty. A few years ago Loretta and I had lunch with the third richest man in the United States at the time. With all of his wealth and fame, he was probably one of the most humble men I had ever met. We must not fear prosperity with wrong thinking that as we prosper we become prideful. Pride and humility have no connection with money. Money is neutral. A righteous man who attains money will do good works. An evil man who attains money will do evil. Money doesn’t decide where it goes or what it is used for. The heart of its master decides.
And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.(Deut. 28:13)
