And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
(Acts 9:33-34)
Many Christians have been taught that people receive their healing either by hearing, believing, and acting on the Word or by God initiating it. In the nineteen cases of individual healing in Jesus’ ministry, however, only three fall cleanly into those categories.
In the other sixteen cases, God used Jesus as a mediator. Somebody stood in the gap to help people get to a place of wholeness, just as He used Peter to be a mediator for Aeneas. You need to learn how to be sensitive to the Holy Ghost so you know when you are to be a mediator and help people to either believe or to act on their faith.
Learn to minister as Jesus ministered. Jesus recognized His role as God’s instrument to motivate an individual’s faith and help that person release his faith.
