When the Hebrews were getting ready to leave Egypt, the Lord warned them the destroyer would come to kill the firstborn male of every family – unless they took the blood of a lamb and put it on the doorpost (Ex. 12:23).
He didn’t say the destroyer wouldn’t come. God told them how to access the power of the blood so that when the destroyer got to their house, he would pass over it because of the blood.
Sometimes Christians pray that the destroyer won’t show up at their house. The destroyer will show up at your house, but with the blood of Jesus applied on the doorpost of your house, the destroyer will pass over. You are not going to cast the devil into hell. But, you can keep the devil out of your house and out of your life.
We know that in Old Testament times, the Hebrew people were required to place the actual blood of a slain lamb over their doorpost. Under the new covenant, we do the same thing; however, instead of using the physical blood of the lamb, we symbolically take the blood that was shed by Jesus two thousand years ago, and apply it to our own household with the words of our mouth.
The Word of God tells us we can access the spirit realm with our words. Everything we do in the spirit realm is through our words. When we pray, we speak words to the Father in the name of Jesus.
Because we are born-again believers, bought by the blood that Jesus shed, we have access to the Father and His power through our words. If you do not speak to the Father, the Father doesn’t hear you. If you don’t apply the blood of Jesus with your words, the blood of Jesus will not be applied in that area of your life.
