“As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, ‘Be not afraid, only believe'” (Mark 5:36 KJV).
It is time for a breakthrough. Understanding the love of God is our breakthrough. I am going to give you the definition of “breakthrough” today. Because when you know how to break through, then you can break out.
To breakthrough means to burst forth to penetration from one surface or limit to the opposite; to break forth from wherever you are. From wherever you are limited right now, you want to break through that and get to the opposite point. I hope you do. I hope you don’t want to stay where you are. Because that is not what God wants for you.
In Mark 5:22 we see the account of Jairus going to Jesus so that He would heal his daughter. As Jesus went with him, a woman touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was completely healed. That incident caused Jesus to stop and find out who touched Him and what was her story.
She told him everything, and Jesus told her, “Your faith has healed you.” In the meantime, Jairus is probably thinking, “Come on, Jesus. Let’s go. Let’s go. We’ve got to go lay hands on this girl.” But he said nothing. To make matters worse, while she is telling Jesus her testimony, someone comes to tell Jairus to leave Jesus alone, because it is too late. His daughter is dead.
Now while Jesus is still listening to this woman, He hears the words spoken to Jairus and says, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe.” Believe what? Believe what He said when He said “If you lay hands on my daughter she shall be healed.”
This is where Jairus must now move out of the limited circumstances to get his break through. Jairus did what Jesus said. He kept his mouth shut and continued to believe. When Jesus turned to go to Jairus’ daughter, Jesus got into agreement with Jairus. And Jesus raised the little girl up from the dead.
It is when you believe the Word of God regardless of the circumstances that you can break through and see God bring life to your situation.
