Kathryn Kuhlman’s Greatest Battle: Part 2

by Shane Philpott | Uncategorized

Following Kathryn’s experience at Radio Chapel, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and many other countries conducting healing and miracle crusades. It was at these popular crusades that thousands of people came to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. Her uniqueness as a preacher coupled with her transparency as a human being broke through all denominational barriers, paving the path for a ministry that became known for the miraculous. Despite the abuse heaped upon her ministry’s earlier years, Kathryn never lost her humility, her tenderness nor her compassion.

Furthermore, like the story of Joseph and his brothers in the book of Genesis, she learned firsthand that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose. Consequently, Kathryn became one of the most recognized and admired ministers in the world.

It would be difficult to accurately gauge the positive impact of Kathryn Kuhlman’s ministry upon the faith movement of the Twentieth Century. The amount of awareness that she brought to the Person of the Holy Spirit clearly set her apart from many preachers of her time. Kathryn’s ministry influenced numerous ministers of the Gospel with her passionate, yet simple trust in the power of the Holy Spirit. Throughout the years, the fruit of Kathryn Kuhlman’s ministry has stood the test of time, and many today regard her as an authentic and important forerunner to the Word of Faith movement.

History is now witness to the fact that the vision and innovation for ministry which was so cruelly discarded by the people of North Iowa would later become massively received and celebrated in the rest of America. Kathryn would eventually utilize radio, television, and books to inspire multitudes of Christians worldwide to deepen their consecration to Jesus Christ.

According to the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation, which was established in 1954, fifty radio stations eventually carried her thirty-minute broadcasts, five days a week, covering most of the United States. These programs were also broadcast into Canada and overseas, reaching much of Europe. Kathryn’s weekly half-hour television program, “I Believe in Miracles,” was shown throughout the United States and Canada for a number of years. Many of her television programs and radio sermons can still be seen and heard by way of television and the Internet, and many accounts of healings and miracles as a result of her ministry were published in her books and shared on her programs.

Due to her courage and perseverance, the favor and success that Kathryn experienced in her latter years of ministry would easily eclipse the struggles of her earlier years. “Living with faith and courage is something that life requires of each of us,” are Kathryn’s words recorded with her foundation. “Absolutely never give up!  Never give in, no matter what!  Fight it through!  And I promise you something with all of my heart – God will help you.”

Even to this day, Kathryn Kuhlman continues to be loved and esteemed by untold numbers of people whose lives and families were touched by her anointing during her lifetime. Her enduring legacy declares all the louder, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phil. 4:13 KJV).

Kathryn’s years at Radio Chapel are dynamic proof that, as the Heavens are higher than the earth, the Lord’s thoughts and ways are higher than man’s. Furthermore, God will always put His might behind the hearts of those who trust Him, and He will empower them with both the strength and ability required to overcome.

“The Heavenly Father does not ask for golden vessels,” Kathryn once said. “He does not ask for silver vessels. God asks for yielded vessels – those who will submit their will to the will of the Father. And the greatest human attainment in all the world is for a life to be so surrendered to Him that the Name of God Almighty will be glorified through that life.”
