Love, God’s Higher Way

by Susan Fletcher | Uncategorized

In 1 John 4:7-8 the Bible says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”  (NKJV)

When we were born again, God gave us His love nature. We didn’t just enter into a relationship with Him, but we were given an open invitation to know Him. Knowing God requires we invest both our time and effort, but above all, it requires that we count Him worth the knowing! If we don’t know God then we won’t know or develop in love, for God is love.

The more we know God, the more we will become like Him. We will learn how Love responds and reacts to people and to situations. You cannot consistently be in the Presence of Love without it changing you! God’s love in us will change how we see others and how we relate to others. Love will dictate our words, our conduct and our decisions. In short, we will love what God loves!

The love of God takes us to another level. It is a higher way. It gives us a perspective we could never find on our own. It is higher than self-interest, self-indulgence and selfishness. It puts the plan of God and the people of God ahead our own plan and our own desires.

God is worth the knowing. Spend time in the Presence of Love. Let His love fill you, and then let that love flow from you into the lives of others that need to know Him too. Choose the highway of love!

In 2010, we turned over our church to our son-in-law and daughter to focus on our next ministry phase, Beyond International. We currently reside in the United Kingdom, where we believe God has sent us to fulfill our mission: to help bring closure to the Great Commission by strategically taking the Gospel to the least-reached places on earth.

Kevin's greatest passion is seeing believers walking in their calling and fulfilling their God-given destiny. He enjoys reading, going on walks with Susan, and spending time with their grandsons when they are back in the States. Having once owned a coffee shop and coffee roasting business, he considers himself a coffee snob!

Susan has a tremendous heart for prayer. One of her greatest joys is inspiring others to walk in that place of fellowship with God and take their place in prayer. She also loves sitting at her keyboard, where she can get caught up in worship for hours. She enjoys baking, going for walks, time with family, dogs (she'd have 100 of them if she could), and laughter.

Kevin and Susan have two married children, four grandsons, and one grand dog, Douglas, who reside in Arkansas.
