Loving the Woman in the Mirror Part Two

by Taffi L. Dollar | Uncategorized

What others think about us is not the primary issue. We can’t govern our lives based on what they think. We should be more concerned about what God thinks of us. He gave us His Word by which to examine our lives. That’s why we must retain it in our hearts and disregard the rest.

I am not sharing advice with you that I haven’t applied to myself. There was a time when I was very insecure. As a pastor’s wife, I dealt with the fear of public opinion. I was okay with my husband, Creflo, being the public figure. But I was uncomfortable being in the public eye. I was more satisfied with being behind the scenes.

Creflo would always encourage me to be more active at our church. “Taffi, you can do anything. You’re a strong woman of faith. Step out and do what God has called you to do!”

My attitude was, “Who me? No way! You do your thing, and I’ll be just fine.” I was convinced that my husband was trying to make a preacher out of me; and, of course, I was against it. Honestly, I was afraid!

Years later, I realized that Creflo was only trying to help me recognize my God-given gifts and abilities. After a while, he decided to allow God to deal with me concerning my calling and self-perception.

The Lord has a way of dealing with us like no one else can. He knows how to get our attention. He knows what will inspire us to be who He created us to be.

If we are not in God’s perfect will, nothing goes the way we think it should. We’ll struggle in doing things our way only to one day realize that we can’t succeed without God’s direction.

In those times, we also realize that our strength to be successful resides solely in His ability to work through us. As children of God, each of us possesses His strength. He has equipped us with the ability to do great things.

History has proven that many women have triumphed over adversity. For example, there was a time when women were denied the right to vote and hold a political office. Today, things have changed.

It hasn’t been easy. But God has given us the strength to move forward and attain success in every area of life. It’s because of Him that we have made tremendous contributions to the political, economic, and social arenas.

With all that we’ve achieved, we must continue our legacy of success. However, it begins with loving ourselves enough to confidently become what God has called us to be!
