Make Your Boast in the Lord

by Keith Butler | Uncategorized

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad” (Ps. 34:1-2).

How do we make our boast in the Lord? With our mouth. “With my mouth I boast in God. With my mouth I say that all my needs are supplied according to God’s riches in glory. I say that all my bills are paid. I say that everyone in my house will be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. I say that God will give me the best job I ever had. I say that every sickness and every disease that comes against my body dies in the Name of Jesus, for I am His temple, and the God I serve is stronger than anything that could ever come against Him.”

That is how you boast in the Lord.

Notice David said, “I boast in my God.” He was saying this very thing when he was in that cave with four hundred of the most scared and sorry bunch of men in the whole country (1 Sam. 22:2). Despite his predicament, David made his boast in God.

David said, “I will bless the Lord at all times. I will not do anything but praise God. I will praise Him when circumstances look good, and I will praise God when they don’t look so good.”

We need to have that same attitude. We need to say, “I’m going to praise God when I feel like it and praise Him when I don’t. I’m going to boast in my God at all times, because I know my God makes a way even when there is no way.”

In Psalm 34:3 David says, “O, magnify the Lord with me.” In other words, he is saying, “I don’t want to do this by myself. I want my brothers and sisters to come on and help me praise God. Let’s magnify God together. Let’s give Him praise and lift His Name together.”
