My Debt Has Been Paid

by | Devotions, Featured Devotions

Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

(Col. 2:14 NASB)

We all owed a debt we could not pay. We owed payment for the penalty of our sins. Thank God Jesus paid it for us. God wiped out the charges that were laid against us for breaking His law. It seems He wanted us free and forgiven. So God took them and nailed them to the cross of Jesus.

The Message Bible says: The slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s Cross.

God canceled the unfavorable evidence of our unpaid debts by nailing them all to the cross. So now our slate has been wiped clean. As long as we believe it, we walk free of sin and it’s aftermath. If it had not been for Jesus, we would not have a hope of approaching God. But through Him we are welcomed home, now and forever. Praise God, all charges against us have been dropped.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

All the record of my sin has been nailed to the cross of Jesus and my slate is clean.
