It’s over halfway through summer, and shopping for school clothes and supplies is right around the corner. Wow. Did I really just say that?! School…already?
Time sure flies during our summer-time fun, huh?
Even though there is much fun to be had during this time of the year, summer is a time when laziness and procrastination can creep in as well. Having fun is one thing…and God certainly wants us to enjoy this life! But laziness is something entirely different…and it’s something we need to constantly guard against.
When the warm sunshine, beaches, and family activities begin to call your name, it’s easy to forget about God, Bible studies, prayer, and even church attendance. Yet now is exactly the time when we need to keep running the race God has set before us.
Why?
Because while summer weather and activities are a blessing, we can’t allow them to encroach upon or replace our personal time with the Lord each day.
That’s why I feel impressed to remind you of a few things Keith Butler wrote in his article ” Running the Race of Life .”
- “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things” (1 Cor. 9:25 KJV)
- A person striving to be the best operates in temperance and self-control with everything
- You can operate in self-control in every area of your life
- If you have an area you don’t have control of, then you need to center up on that issue and attack it. Stop allowing it to control you
Notice that God is not going to control you. He gave you the ability to do what you want and to move away from what you want. There is nothing in your life you cannot manage or overcome. The Bible says you CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens you!
My prayer is that you will stay focused, run, and finish the race God has set before you.
Resolutions…Remember Those? One last thought before I leave you to your final month of summertime bliss….
About seven months ago, you probably made some New Year’s resolutions about change you’d like to see in your life. I encourage you to go back and read through those resolutions and see how you are doing.
If you need to improve any area, read through the rest of Keith’s article and set your mind and heart to follow through on what you resolved you would do! Remember, with God’s help, all things are possible. Believe it…then act on it!
Plus…no one ever said you couldn’t work on your resolutions at the beach, right?!
Thank You Things have been pretty busy around the cfaith offices over the past month or so; but once again, you have proven to be patient and supportive of our ministry efforts.
On behalf of all of us at cfaith, I want to express our appreciation for your continued support and on-going commitment to this ministry. We pray that all of the faith-building resources available on the cfaith website will continue to be a source of blessing, strength, and peace to you and your family.
Until next month, may God find you running—and finishing—your race!
Blessings to you,
Jeffrey Litfin operations manager cfaith
