“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4 NKJ).
Part Six
We have already looked at the blood of Jesus, the name of Jesus, and the Word of God as powerful weapons to be used in spiritual warfare. Now we are adding another weapon: praise.
According to the Bible, it was while they were praying and singing praises unto God that an earthquake occurred which released Paul and Silas from jail (Acts 16:25).
The very next day the two disciples were able to plant the gospel in Europe. Up to that time, no one had preached the gospel there. Imagine, if you will, Paul and Silas singing and praising at midnight and the song breaking open a whole continent for the gospel!
We also find in Psalm 149:5-9 all kinds of mighty victories promised to those who sing praises to the Lord. The whole passage is one continual assurance of dominion and authority over all obstructions and hindrances that come against any believer.
In 2 Chronicles 20:22, it was when the people of Judah began to sing and praise the Lord that God smote their enemies. Praise not only makes the powers of darkness highly nervous, it also causes them to flee.
The old hymn says it best: “At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee; On, then, Christian soldiers. On to victory! Hell’s foundations quiver At the shout of praise; Brothers, lift your voices. Loud your anthems raise!” Praise is a powerful weapon. Use it and win the victory!
