Prayer for Our Leaders

by Keith Butler | Uncategorized

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1Tim. 2:2 KJV).

God desires to use you as a catalyst to changes things in the earth. He can do that when you spend time praying in the spirit for the leaders of our nation. When we pray, God answers our prayers. It is only cordial that we say thank you. It is called good manners. If I were to give you a gift, you would say thank you. So we give God thanks because He is hearing our prayer and is working on our leaders, be they sinner or saint.

The scripture says to pray for all men, specifically for kings and for all who are in authority. Now is surely the time to pray for our political leaders. Quite obviously, you don’t pray for them because you like them, or because they are of your political persuasion.

You pray for them because they are in leadership, and the Bible says to pray for those in leadership. I believe it is the prayers of the saints that stop terrorists from doing even greater harm than they’ve done. They have not been able to succeed because somebody is praying.

It is time for the church to wake up and do its job. Let’s not fall asleep again. Here is a prayer list for you. Lets pray for the FBI instead of criticizing them. They need all the help they can get to find the perpetrators of terrorist acts.

Pray for the CIA and for all the other agencies that are out here doing their job. Pray for the prosecutors and police officers. The Word tells us in Romans 13 that these people are called of God to protect us. You should be praying for your protectors.

This may mean that you need to reconstruct your prayer list. We’re not talking about what kind of man or woman you want, or what kind of house you want. It’s not that you can’t have those things. But put things in their proper perspective. Praying for your nation is priority.

Pray in the spirit for your leaders, for they need your prayers today. So make a difference and pray. Notice what 1 Timothy 2:3-4 says: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. People get saved when you do that. That is how they find out the truth; You pray for them and remove the darkness” (1 Tim. 2:3-4).

The Lord answers your prayers. And when you please Him, He gives you the desires of your heart. When you decide to sacrifice your personal wants and pray for your nation, the Holy Spirit is right there to act on your behalf.

Allow God to use you as a catalyst to change things in the earth by taking your eyes off of yourself, and get a broader perspective. When we as the body of Christ join together to pray, demons flee and God shows Himself strong on our behalf.
