Prayer Is The Greatest Gift You Can Give

by Keith Butler | The Anointed Word

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (John 16:13).

The more time you spend with God, Hechanges what you think. There are some important things for you to know. But you’ll never know it until you get over into the spirit, seeking God. After a while, things that seemed so important seem small compared to being in God’s presence. In the spirit is where you recognize what is really important.

When you are in God’s presence, don’t pay the devil any attention. You’re finding out what God is doing right here in the earth, and what He has in store for your future. I found my personal future in my prayer closet. One of the reasons why I am a pastor is because of the hours I spent in prayer when I was in my late teens. I spent hours and days in the face of God, and then the Lord revealed to me this ministry.

He showed me the people. He showed me some of the buildings. He showed me what was coming in the future. He gave me my instructions and told me precisely where to go to school. Then once I got specific information from God, the only thing I had to do was just obey.

That’s what you have to do. Spend lots of time in prayer. Now when I was in prayer I wasn’t just concerned about myself and my family. It wasn’t, “Lord, my name is Keith, my wife is Deborah amen. We got two children. Give us all you got. Us four, and no more.”

On the contrary, I was praying for others, my church, my pastor, and for the whole body of Christ. I was praying for people to be saved, and I was praying about me. As I did all those things, the Lord gave me specific instructions for my life. And at the same time people got saved and delivered because of my prayer.

In John 16:13 Jesus said, …I will show you things to come. The word “show” in the Greek means that He will “announce” things to come. The Spirit of Truth will announce that God is about to bring a man or a woman into your life. He will announce that you are about to have a financial breakthrough. He will announce that the enemy is coming against you in this way, so do this or do that. He will announce unto you those things when you spend time with Him in prayer.
