Pressing Toward The Mark

by | A Verse A Day

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

(Phil. 3:14 KJV)

No power in the universe goes backward on the time line, not even God’s power. So many times we wish things could have been different or that we could have been different. We all could do so much better if we had a second chance at situations we have bungled.

God doesn’t want us to try to go back and undo or change anything. He wants us to press on in Christ and let Him show us the possibilities of our future.

The Message Bible says: I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.

Rather than going back to try to fix our mistakes, God wants us the do the next right thing to eliminate the effects of them. We can undo the effects of a lot of bad experiences if we do the right things now, like forgive, forget, love, bless, and believe.

Our past will either make us bitter or better. Be a doer of God’s Word today and undo the effects of the past. Press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God that you have in Christ Jesus.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am forgetting the past and pressing toward the mark by doing God’s Word today.
