“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come” (Prov. 26:2).
Sometimes people get sick and think, There must be some deep, dark, hidden sin in my life I don’t even know about that’s caused this curse to come on me. But this Scripture indicates that some problems in our lives are “causeless.” They are simply attacks from the enemy. So if you don’t know about a deep, dark, hidden sin in your life, it’s probably not there.
I was recently with a fellow in Europe who was upset because a physical ailment had come on one of his relatives. He told me, “We’ve gone all through her childhood, turning over every rock to see if she had any bitterness in her past that might have caused this condition. We found out she got angry at her mother one time when she was a little girl.”
This man was viewing his relative’s sickness from a psychological perspective.
Now, sometimes bitterness can cause illnesses. But we need to be careful about getting into the realm of psychology. Although psychology can sometimes help locate the source of a problem, it doesn’t have the ability to free us from it.
We don’t need to go digging past the time we were born again. At that moment, we became new creatures, and our old man died. Any problems we had before that are gone.
Thank God, we’ve been redeemed from the “curse causeless” and every evil work of the enemy!
I’m a new creature in Christ Jesus. When I was born again,
my past was wiped away. In Christ, I am made righteous.
Therefore, I come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need!
