But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
(2 Cor. 2:14)
Today’s Confession: It is ALWAYS God’s will for me to triumph. I will overcome the adversity in my life and turn them into stepping stones to my destiny.
Did you know that it is always God’s will for you to triumph? It is. Look at what 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be unto God which always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus.”
Always! That’s the will of God. It’s never the will of God that you and I win a few – lose a few. God’s will is that you triumph always! “Always triumph” is God’s best for your life, no matter how impossible your circumstances look at this very moment. I don’t care if you stumble and fall seven times, get up eight and go again! Don’t accept defeat. Don’t accept anything but triumph.
When I was a young boy, and playing baseball, in little league my coach told the team, “Boys, it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game that counts.” At eight years old, I didn’t like the sound of that. I can remember walking away from him thinking, “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s not whether you win or lose? Well, why are we practicing every day?” I thought, “That’s why we practice every day, so we’ll win.”
As soon as my daddy would come home from work, I’d have his catcher’s mitt waiting so I could pitch to him. Winning was everything! Now I realize he was probably referring to sportsmanship and how we conducted ourselves if we lost, but I learned not too long after that, that if you play the game right, you win! And it’s certainly that way with God. If you play the game of life with God’s rules, you always win. Now you may have setbacks from time to time, but I’ve also learned that setbacks are not final. Setbacks are not permanent. They are temporary. And they can become stepping stones to greater victories.
The true test to David’s faithfulness and to holding onto what God had said to him was when he faced Goliath. Goliath represented a major obstacle that attempted to keep him from becoming what God said he would become. Goliath, just like our adversary, Satan, stood between David and his destiny.
Satan will stand between you and your destiny. He’ll create barriers. He’ll create obstacles, tests, and trials because he knows probably even better than some Christians that God has a wonderful future planned for you. He will stand between you and your destiny. He’ll create every barrier he possibly can so that you will become discouraged and quit, and never fulfill what God has planned for you.
But I want you to notice that even though Goliath represented David’s greatest obstacle to becoming what God said he would become, David chose to make Goliath a stepping stone instead a stumbling block.
The very adversity you’re experiencing today, the thing that is trying to keep you from your destiny today, could become that stepping stone to your greatest victory! Your life experiences today will be your sermons tomorrow.
