Stewardship: Our Universal Calling

by Mark Harper | Uncategorized

“And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” ( Genesis 2:15)

What does it mean to be a steward? A steward is someone who manages the property, money, or household of another. We see God establishing the principles of stewardship early in the Bible. God created the world for us (to bless us), but it all belongs to Him.

Think about your bedroom at home. You call it “your bedroom,” but who really owns the room? Mom and Dad. Children are stewards of their room and all that is in it. It is their responsibility to clean it and create an atmosphere in the room.

Why did God create the world?

  • For us—to bless us

Why did God create me?

  • The Father-heart of God wanted children to love.

What does He want me to do?

  • Love Him (not the things He has given me) and be a good steward of the things he has given me.
