Do you remember when you were so in love you did everything possible to impress the person who had captured your heart? There was nothing (within reason) you would not do to obtain their affection. Your time, money, efforts and all resources were expendable to earn their love.
If you have ever loved someone you have received a glimpse into the grace of God. That overwhelming desire to gratify the desires of, and look beyond the flaws of, the individual who captured your attention is your priority in life.
You may have heard it said, “Love is blind.” Like love, God’s grace has no memory of the evil. Grace does not consider our wrongs.
Grace desires to show us acts of kindness and mercy. Grace has made compensation for all our imperfections. There is no disapproval for those who are in Christ Jesus. (See Romans 8:1)
“What did we do to earn such status with The Great I AM God?” The answer is not one thing! His only requirement is — your faith. I know that sounds too good to be true, but that is what The Good News is all about!
You will discover the more you believe in, and receive from, The Father’s grace the greater your hunger becomes to satisfy Him. When you desire to please Him you become a man or woman after God’s heart. The Father’s heart is disposed to show favor and when you please Him you become predisposed to to do the same.
I realize this is difficult for some to understand. There are believers who have barriers in their understanding of grace. Their mindset has been, “If it is to be it is up to me” or “God helps those who help themselves.” That is incorrect thinking aside from the fact it is not Bible.
Think for a moment. It was grace that gave us access through faith to all the promises of God. The truth is our faith originated as an act of grace. The Father in effect gave us his faith, so we could take delivery of His grace.
Faith through grace has given us the title deed into this marvelous salvation and in addition the promise of eternal life. (See Rom. 4:16, 5:2 and Eph. 2:8) That alone is enough to shout about. And if that were not sufficient, we have been promised days of Heaven on earth in the face of difficulties. (See Deut. 11:21 and Matt. 6:10)
His grace goes beyond His sacrifice. His sacrifice is the avenue into more grace which should open your understanding of the enormity of grace. You can easily exhaust the English vocabulary attempting to describe God’s amazing grace.
More than likely, you have heard it said: “God’s love is unconditional” and so it is. Yet, the word unconditional does not adequately describe the intensity of God’s desire to be revealed to you. Faith in His word delivers this hidden reality to you.
Look at what the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:10 in the Amplified Bible:
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
When you read the above verse it is easy to conclude the Almighty has had you perpetually on His Mind. (Isa. 49:16) The paths your Father prepared for you preexist time. When followed, his paths will unveil his gracious handiwork in your life.
Your ultimate success is his passion. It brings great satisfaction to the Father to see you flourish in the life he arranged for you.
The Father lives in eternity. Everything He has ever said concerning your welfare is a perpetual amen! The eternal sayings of God are more than mere words. They are adequate to overcome your temporary setbacks. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). Things that are eternal are eternally unshakeable.
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal “(2 Cor. 4:18). Our Father prepared this good life for us before hardships were planned against us.
To experience the grace of God you must give your attention to his promises. He is faithful who has promised. (Heb. 10:23) The good life awaits you in every promise given by the God who cannot lie. (See Titus 1:2)
