For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Those who have died believing in Jesus Christ will rise to new life. They will rise to the fulfillment of all the promises God made concerning our home in heaven. As we walk with God we learn to trust His promises through interaction and experience. Yet there are many promises concerning the life to come, not just the life we have here.
The Message Bible says: The Master himself will give the command. Archangel thunder! God’s trumpet blast! He’ll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise–they’ll go first.
There will be the shout of authority booming through the atmosphere, and the archangel’s voice will be heard, followed by the sound of God’s trumpet. Then the Lord Himself will come down from heaven and we will go to be with Him forever.
I look forward to the fulfillment of all the promises of God in my life, both now and forever.
