The Lord Says it Shall Be Well With You

by Dick Mills | The Spirit Filled Believer

“Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them” (Isa. 3:10).

When you were a child, didn’t you like to hear stories which ended with the time-honored words, “…and they lived happily ever after?” Didn’t you give a sigh of relief at the image of the hero and heroine finally having overcome all their obstacles and blissfully facing a wonderful new life together? Wasn’t it satisfying to imagine the two of them – all their troubles behind them – happily riding off into the golden sunset?

This verse paints just such a bright, happy picture of the Lord and His bride, the church. It assures believers that they too will surmount the obstacles in their paths, overcome the difficulties which beset them on all sides, ride out the storms of life, and in the end find peace and joy and a marvelous new beginning. This verse expresses the Christian equivalent of “they lived happily ever after,” it shall be well with them….

In the original Hebrew, the word translated “well” is “towb” (tobe) and can be defined as “good, gracious, joyful, prosperous, pleasant, precious.” It denotes a state of general well-being. It is the word used to describe a person who has been ill but who has now regained his health. It is also used to speak of the state of an individual who has suffered financial reversal, but whose fortune has now been fully restored.

“Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them.” Know that with God’s intervention, things can always turn out the way they are supposed to. Don’t expect the worst to happen, expect the best to take place. The Lord says that it shall be well with you. Well. Add this promising word to your vocabulary.
