The Lord Shall Descend From Heaven

by | A Verse A Day

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first…”

(1 Thess. 4:16)

There is going to be a day, in the near future, when these words will be the event of the day. Jesus Himself will descend from heaven and will return to this earth to receive His church unto Himself.

There will be a shout, there will be the voice of the archangel heard throughout the land, and there will be the sounding of the trumpet of God.

The Message Bible says: “The Master himself will give the command. Archangel thunder! God’s trumpet blast! He’ll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise—they’ll go first.”

The dead in Christ are believers in Jesus who have died before His return. Their spirits went to heaven when they died, yet their bodies will be raised first when He comes again. The dead in Christ will rise first. Do you believe? Are you ready?

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I’m a believer in Jesus. If Jesus tarries and I die, I will be raised at His return.
