“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4 NKJ).
Part Four
Another great and powerful weapon is the name of Jesus. “In My name, you will cast out (or expel) demons,” He told His disciples (Mark 16:17). Paul tells us of a day when universally all creation, including heaven, earth, and hell, will acknowledge the name of Jesus and bow to Him in confession of His total lordship (Phil. 2:5-10).
The name of Jesus personifies Him; when spoken in prayer and deliverance, it invokes all His majesty, authority, power, rank, character, and excellence. His name embodies all that He Himself is and has. The name of Jesus is not a magic formula; it cannot be thought of as an amulet or a good-luck charm. Rather, it is a base of power for demolishing the strongholds of the enemy.
If you will read carefully Philippians 2:5-11, you will discover that ultimately every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. The day is coming when Satan and all his impious hosts will be forced to bow in total humiliation before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and acknowledge to Him personally, “You won, we lost!”
Every time you face demons or even the devil himself, if you will mention the name of Jesus you will be reminding the enemy of his three-dimensional defeat: he was defeated at the cross, he is defeated right now by the resurrection, and he will yet be defeated on the day of judgment.
What a powerful weapon we have: the name of the Lord!
