“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed…” (James 5:14-16).
Who is the “ye” in the phrase “that ye may be healed?” “Ye” is the body of Christ. Each of us in the body of Christ is to pray for one another so that those in the Church may be healed.
We Christians will begin to be healthier when we start praying for one another. We need to understand that we have great power in prayer. James 5:16 AMP puts it this way: “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”
Now, we’re not going to be able to help others receive their healing in every situation. The Holy Spirit will let us know when we can help and when we can’t make any progress. In some situations, people stay afflicted because they let someone else do all their praying for them. That’s why James 5:13 says, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.”
But in other situations, praying for each other can make the difference. You see, there are people in the Church and in the world today who will never be healed unless someone goes to the Father in prayer for them. Why? Some people have never even heard about divine healing.
Isaiah 5:13 says, “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge….” Others can’t receive divine healing because they’ve never been taught how to receive from God. These people need someone to go to the throne of God in prayer for them.
You can be that someone! Your earnest, heartfelt and continued prayers for another can make tremendous power available to heal, deliver and set free!
I pray effectually and fervently for others so they can receive
their healing. As I pray, tremendous power is made available
to effect a healing and a cure in others and in me!
