The Secret Place

Have you ever faced a seemingly impossible challenge or situation? It may have felt as if the whole world was crashing in around you. Something inside cried out for peace in the midst of calamity or maybe you longed to get away to a safe and quiet place of refuge.

Have you ever faced a seemingly impossible challenge or situation? It may have felt as if the whole world was crashing in around you. Something inside cried out for peace in the midst of calamity or maybe you longed to get away to a safe and quiet place of refuge.

There is a place where you can experience a shift. A place where stress and anxiety melt away and fear is replaced by faith and trust in God.

Where is this place? Psalm 91, tells us of the secret place of the Most High. The secret place is where God reassures you He is in control and on your side. It’s the place where God encourages and strengthens you by His Spirit.

Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty whose power no foe can withstand. When we dwell in the secret place then we will say, God is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I confidently trust! The more you know God the more you will trust Him in every area of your life. The safest place in the world to be is in the Will of God.

Psalms 91:3-16, goes on to promise, “For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Then He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways of obedience and service. They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.”

Verse 16, “Because he has set his love upon Me,” says the Lord, “I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness–trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.”

Be encouraged today, God is a shelter and a refuge from all of the demands of life. When we dwell in His “Secret Place” our emotions will neutralize as peace and clarity spring forth. Our trust in Almighty God as our protector and deliverer will carry us through to the place of freedom and victory.

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, thank you for the Secret Place. A place of clarity, refreshing, encouragement and strength. There is no place like being in Your presence and discovering the revelation truth of Your Word. We long for more of You Father. We love You, there is none above You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Joe and Misti have been married since 1989 and have 2 kids, Hannah and Joseph who also serve in various roles at Harvest Church. Because family is such a priority to our Pastors, they desire for the church to feel like home.

They both graduated from Rhema Bible College and currently serve as Rhema Regional Directors, overseeing ministers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia under Pastors Kenneth and Lynette Hagin. Before pioneering Harvest Church, Pastors Joe and Misti served at St. Peter's World Outreach Church for 8 years under Bishop JC and Lady Joy Hash. Our Pastors continue to serve their Pastors as part of Bishop Hash's Alliance.

In 1998, God called our Pastors to pioneer Harvest Church in Greensboro, NC. They desired that Harvest would be a place where people of all ages and races could connect with God in a personal way. They place high importance on basing everything we do from God's Word, prayer, and being led by the Holy Spirit.

Today at Harvest, God is fulfilling the vision He placed in our Pastors' hearts. You will see that our church is driven by the love of God. You will feel like you belong and that there is a place for you! We believe that every time we come together as a church, people are pointed to Jesus and that we reflect the kingdom of God.
