The Spirit of Faith

by Tim Brown | Uncategorized

John 16:33 says that “in the world you will have tribulation” or as it says in the new international version “trouble.” Praise God that 1 John 5:4 tells us that “whatever is born of God overcomes the world.”

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7). If God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, where did we get it? Maybe we got it from the newspaper, news broadcasts, or even people. One thing we know is that we didn’t get it from God! James 1:7 tells us clearly that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”

Romans 10:8 says that, “the Word is near us”! How is it near us? It is “in your mouth and in your heart.” Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). When faith cometh, fear goeth! God is a faith God. Hebrew 11:6 shows us that “without faith, it is impossible to please Him”!

God never changes His mind. This is revealed to us in both Numbers 23:19 and in Malachi 3:6. Numbers 23:19 tells us that “God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent.” Malachi 3:6 reads, “For I am the Lord, I do not change.”

Faith is what pleases God and is also what moves God. Faith releases God!

Jesus is a faith Jesus! In Matthew 8:10, Jesus says, “I have not found such great faith…”! This shows us that He was indeed looking for faith. You don’t find something without looking for it! “When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?’ (Luke 18:8).

Faith is also what moves the Holy Ghost. The Word states that “we must believe to see the Glory” (John 11:40). Matthew 9:29 says, “according to your faith let it be to you.” This means that a man gets in life what he believes for, nothing more or less! In Hebrews 10:38, we see that we are to live by faith. You are going to have to live according to your faith.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:7, “we are to walk by faith, not by sight.” We have to see things as God sees them. In order to have a good life, we must be able to fight the good fight of faith (2 Tim. 6:12). The good fight consists of the good confession. The good confession is the God confession!

The Word tells us that “we have the same Spirit of faith.” We understand we don’t get it by praying or fasting. We get it from the Word. A spirit of faith is contagious! You have to get around someone who has it to catch it. The principles of faith are taught, but a spirit of faith is caught!
