“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over” (Ps. 23:5).
Some folks think the table in Psalm 23:5 refers to the marriage feast of the Lamb in heaven. But that can’t be right. The marriage feast of the Lamb won’t be held in the presence of our enemies; there won’t be any enemies in heaven!
No, God has prepared a table before you right in the presence of your enemies down here on earth. Sickness may come running up, ready to attach itself to your body. But you have a table set before you with a big plate of bread right in the middle.
When sickness presents itself, you can say, “God prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Healing is the children’s bread. Please pass me the children’s bread!” (Mark 7:25-30).
Everything you need is spread before you on that table. You have the fruit of the Spirit. You have the milk of the Word to help you grow in God. You have the meat of the Word to make your spirit strong.
So take advantage of the table set before you. No matter what enemy comes to harass you, just sit down at the table and feast on the Word and the children’s bread. You’ll be well taken care of, and there’s not a thing in the world your enemies can do about it!
A table is spread for me in the midst of my enemies.
I feast on God’s Word, and it is life to me and medicine
to all my flesh. So please pass the children’s bread!
