Today’s Generation of Children

by Becky Fischer | Uncategorized

There are many documented events and revivals of children being used prophetically through history. These stories and examples show us how powerfully God has touched and used children throughout history.

Therefore we really shouldn’t be amazed when we see it happening today, rather we should be expecting and encouraging these things in our children. Perhaps we should think it strange if our children do not function in these things.

Kids are hungry for the supernatural, just as hungry or more than adults are. With encouragement, coaching and training, children do amazing things for God.

Ironically, there have been periods of time in church history where some didn’t even believe a child could be born again, and even today there are pockets of Christianity here and there that hold to those narrow viewpoints.

But we can look with great excitement to scriptures where Jesus’ only qualifications for people to be involved in the workings of the Spirit were that they were believers in Him – age had nothing to do with it. In fact as we search the scriptures, we find that God has always used children to further his purposes.

It would seem that whatever God has for adults – be it salvation, infilling of the Holy Spirit, water baptism, healing, gifts of the Spirit, evangelizing, signs and wonders, etc. – He also extends the privileges and invitations to children as well. There is no age discrimination for workers in the kingdom of heaven.

In my observations as a children’s minister over the years, it seems that the more open a church is to the general laity being released to function in the gifts of the Spirit, or prophetically if you will, that those are also the churches that are the most open to releasing and encouraging their children to do the same.

Are you anxious and desirous to see your children experiencing more of the things of God? First, let them know what God has available for them. Then train them in the same way you train them to do anything else in their growing up years. Get them into a church environment that believes in releasing kids.

From their youngest years, draw them out, taking their dreams and visions seriously. As the young child Samuel had to be taught, teach them what you know about hearing the voice of God and being obedient to responding to what they hear. You will be amazed at what God will do through your children!
