A Person of Great Capacity

by | The Spirit Filled Believer

“The Lord called your name, Green Olive Tree, Lovely, and of Good Fruit…” (Jer. 11:16).

As a man, do people call you handsome? As a woman, are you considered beautiful? Well, according to this verse, this is the Lord’s opinion of you!

Maybe you don’t see yourself as handsome or beautiful, but the Lord does. In this scripture, three unusual adjectives are used to describe you: “Green, lovely, and good.”

In the original Hebrew, the word translated “Green” is ra’anan (rah-an-awn’). It is defined as “new, prosperous, verdant, flourishing, thriving.” It denotes great potential for growth. Thus, your spiritual name is “one who has a great capacity for fruitfulness and productivity in the Lord.”

“Lovely” is from an original Hebrew word yapheh, (yah-feh’) meaning “beautiful, excellent, good, handsome.” Bible grammarians note that this word is used primarily to describe men and women who are serving the Lord.

Our heavenly Father has no “ugly ducklings” or “plain Janes.” He has given His children beauty for ashes. Instead of down-playing yourself, verbally state that in God’s eyes, you are handsome (male) or beautiful (female).

“Of Good Fruit” in Hebrew is a combination of yapheh and to’ar (to’-ar), meaning “shape, form, figure, outline.” Thus you are “of beautiful form” or “of excellent figure.”

As a redeemed person, you have been translated from Satan’s realm of little worth to Jesus’ kingdom of great worth. He states you are: 1) Good looking, 2) Thriving, and 3) In great shape!
