“And (add) to godliness brotherly kindness.”
Brotherly kindness implies a family bond. We must see that all in the Body of Christ are actually our brothers and sisters, and we need to conduct ourselves accordingly. Brotherly kindness goes beyond trying to be nice.
It goes to having affection for others. It includes seeing them as valuable and precious. It involves bestowing honor and dignity upon them, even during tough times.
The Message Bible says: “So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with…warm friendliness….”
The world will tell us that the people around us are there for our convenience and for our benefit. But in God’s family we realize that we are really there for their benefit. What a different viewpoint that is.
It sounds like God to me. We, the children of God, treat other believers in the family with kind warmth and friendliness. Wow, what would the world be like if all of us Christians would act that way in our daily relationships? It would be awesome. So add brotherly kindness to your godliness.
I add brotherly kindness to my faith. I approach others with affection and warmth.
