I am a father of four and husband to an awesome wife. I have been called to work in the Information Technology department for Living Word Christian Center and cfaith in Minneapolis, MN since 2001, and I oversee them both. My goal is to use technology to make real connections between people.

Outside of the ministry, I am an tinkerer, photographer, and gardener. I try to balance the high-tech side of my life with the simple. I try to observe and see things through quieter eyes. I love to be outside, and each year I enjoy tending to our perennial garden, harvesting our vegetable garden, and taking care of my little corner of God's creation, in which I am in constant awe of.

The Fork in the Road

The Fork in the Road

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it...

Gratitude

Gratitude

We celebrated my son’s birthday yesterday. On these occasions, the family gathers at our house, and we all have the chance to reconnect and catch up on what is happening in each other’s lives and just enjoy each other’s company. My dad, who is 86, all the way to...

The Wrecking Ball

The Wrecking Ball

I stood there staring in astonishment, and it was hard to fathom. I mean, I am a self-proclaimed gardener, and a pretty good one too, I thought. This was something different though. It made my gardening efforts look like amateur hour. Our summers always involve...

Seasons

Seasons

A Cultured Life

I have been on a journey for some time to better understand my body and do what I can to give it the best chance possible to live as healthy as it can. This pursuit has brought me better understanding in a lot of areas of nutrition, and the puzzle pieces are...

Trial by Project

Trial by Project

After my four-hour house project turned into a 12-hour ordeal, I was frustrated that it was more difficult and took longer than expected. But why do we always think things are going to be fast and easy with no complications? News flash: that isn't how it works! The...

The Not-So-Good Samaritan

The Not-So-Good Samaritan

April I just stood there, frozen, staring out the kitchen window. I was having a perfectly wonderful conversation with my wife Julie over lunch, stood up, and there it was. My wife looked at me and then stood up and stared as well. Now what was I supposed to...

True Treasures

True Treasures

Life has a way of revealing those things which are most important during Christmas. Friends and family bring depth and richness to our lives while the annual shopping and decoration routines only bring width and shallowness. If you spend all your time going wide,...

Taking Care Of Busyness

Taking Care Of Busyness

The lighting quick society we live in is constantly trying to keep us in bondage to busyness. We can't even relax in the backyard without feeling guilty because we aren't doing anything. But God wants us to rest. It's time to slow down, ignore the traffic jams in...

Facing the Pain

Facing the Pain

Pain avoidance seems to be the most natural reaction to any of life’s difficult issues. While I don’t believe we should be looking around every corner for our next opportunity to experience pain, I don’t think we should avoid it like the plague either....
