Pray and Obey

Pray and Obey

Success comes from a God-inspired plan, using common sense, and staying well informed. The common sense is not necessarily the concept carnal-thinking Christians maintain. For instance, it is common sense to give as the Bible teaches, but carnal-minded Christians...

Finding Happiness

Finding Happiness

Proverbs 3:13 says, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom....” The wisdom of God is one of the most precious commodities in existence. Wisdom is what gives us the ability to properly apply the knowledge we attain from God’s Word. This is what makes finding wisdom so...

Need Encouragement?

Need Encouragement?

One way to meditate God's Word is to speak aloud. It is interesting to note that the Hebrew word in Joshua 1:8 translated meditate is also rendered "to speak" in the following three verses: For my mouth will speak (or meditates) truth. (Prov. 8:7) And my tongue...

Ask and Believe

Ask and Believe

Unbearable Heaviness

Unbearable Heaviness

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus provides us with the clearest example of someone who drew on an extra measure of God’s grace in an intense time of need. While in the garden,  Jesus asked His disciple to pray with Him. He said, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful,...

Giving Back To God

Giving Back To God

It’s plain to see that wisdom and understanding are not common in our society today. While it is available to anyone who will pursue it, there are few who have realized its value. Solomon was one who saw the value of godly wisdom and understanding enough to pursue...

Living in Peace and Unity

Living in Peace and Unity

People who know their God-given purpose are determined to hit the target God has set for them. This point reminds me of a Peanuts cartoon in which Charlie Brown was practicing his archery. In addition to his bow and arrow, Charlie Brown took a paintbrush and a...

Christ Has a Purpose In You

Christ Has a Purpose In You

John G. Lake was one of the greatest men of God in his century. In his article, “Christ Liveth in Me,”1 he states: “Christ has a purpose in you. Christ’s purpose in you is to reveal Himself to you, through you and in you.” He goes on to say: “God’s highest is to...
