Perhaps you don’t feel like you are able to hear God. Maybe you think you wouldn’t even be able to recognize His voice when He speaks to you. Did you know the Bible says hearing the voice of the Spirit is something that belongs to EVERY believer?
Look at Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” All we have to do is receive this privilege by faith and make sure we are in position to hear.
Don’t let the devil try to tell you that you can’t hear God’s voice. Jesus said that His sheep would know His voice and the voice of a stranger they would not follow. This is a promise of God to you! Who are you going to believe the devil or God?
Remember that the Spirit of God will never guide you into something contrary to the written Word.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
(John 16:13)
The Word and the Spirit always agree. So you need to be familiar with what the Word says. If you want to recognize the spoken word of God for your life—get familiar with the written word. By doing this you will be essentially tuning your ears to hear His voice.
Soon you will be able to recognize His voice just as easily as you recognize your best friend’s voice. So stop wondering if you’ll ever hear from Him and start expecting that you WILL hear!
