It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him.
This verse speaks of a great Bible principle called solidarity. It means that one person stands in the place of a whole group of people. Whatever happens to the one is applied to all. Jesus did that in His death. He represented all who would believe on Him. So when He died, we all died also through His death.
The Message Bible says: This is a sure thing: If we die with him, we’ll live with him.
The same is also true of His resurrection. When He was raised up and given life again, we also were raised up with Him. It was not necessary for a big bunch of people to go to the cross to pay the debt mankind owed for its sin.
One sinless representative was enough to satisfy God’s justice. Because Jesus now lives we also live with Him. I count myself as dead to sin and alive to God for the rest of my days. Thank you, Jesus.
I am dead with Jesus through His death and I am also alive with Him by His life. By dying with Christ, true life I now gain.
