But nothing that a man shall devote to the Lord of all that he has, whether of man or beast or of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the Lord….And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the free, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.
(Lev. 27:28-30 AMP)
Behold, what a drudgery and weariness this is!
(Mal. 1:13 AMP)
Have you ever had that thought when you were giving your tithe to God? Have you ever wanted to hide your money from God so you wouldn’t have to give? If so, you need to change your attitude quick, or it will prevent you from receiving the financial blessings God has for you.
We ought to be like a little child when it comes to giving. Have you ever seen how excited kids get when their parents give them money to put in the offering? They can hardly wait to give it.
We ought to be that way.
We ought to look forward to giving God 10 percent of what we make—from our jobs, our allowances and from gifts.
Just as tithing opens the door to God blessing you, stealing God’s tithe and using it on yourself opens the door to Satan stealing from you. You’ll never come out ahead by keeping the tithe.
Ken and I know that from personal experience. When we became Christians, we tithed for a while…but then we decided we needed the money more than God. Soon, our finances got worse. We kept getting deeper in debt.
Things only turned around when we began to obey God’s Word. We made a rock-solid decision to tithe before spending money on anything else, no matter what. That’s when our finances took an upturn—and things have been great ever since!
It just keeps getting better and better!
If you’re not experiencing the kind of blessings the Bible says belongs to a tither, then check your attitude. Check your heart. When your heart is right, you’ll have a hard time not getting excited about it!
You won’t want to hold God’s ten percent from Him. You’ll thank Him for letting it pass through your hands. You’ll just love to tithe!
