2 Chronicles 7:3
I am convinced that a greater revelation of divine mercy would open a door for the glory of God to flood into people’s lives. I’m convinced it would loose the mighty hand of God to do the miracles, signs, and wonders that He has been longing to do.
It’s happened before! In the Old Testament, when the priests assembled to dedicate the temple that Solomon built, they proclaimed the mercy of the Lord together so fully that:
… indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
(2 Chron. 5:13 – 14)
Dear praying friend, I believe that if we’ll begin to meditate on the mercy of the Lord and let the Holy Spirit reveal it to our hearts in greater measure, the same thing will happen again. The temple of the Lord—which includes us as individuals and the body of Christ at large—will once again be filled with the glory of God. But this time, people won’t just be knocked over by it, they’ll be healed, delivered, blessed, and swept gloriously into the kingdom of God!
I know you’re as eager to see that happen as I am. So keep meditating on God’s mercy, keep praying, and keep saying that the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever!

On the chilly March night in 1972 when Lynne Hammond took her first step into a life of Spirit-led prayer, she had no idea what was about to happen. All she knew was the hunger in her heart for God wouldn’t let her sleep. In the few short months she’d been born again, her desire to fellowship with Him had grown so strong she could hardly contain it. “Help me, God!” she cried. “I want to know you. I want to be able to talk to you. Please, teach me to pray!”
Suddenly, a heavenly presence flooded the room. Lynne sensed waves of spiritual fire sweeping over her and a beautiful language began to flow like a river from within her. Although she’d never heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, she knew instantly, without a doubt—this was God!
What began that night soon blossomed into a life of prayer that ultimately became a ministry of prayer when, in 1980, Lynne and her husband, Mac, founded Living Word Christian Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under Lynne’s leadership, the prayer ministry at Living Word has become an internationally recognized model for developing effective pray-ers in the local church.
A teacher and an author, Lynne publishes a newsletter called Prayer Notes, has written numerous books, and currently serves as the national prayer director for Daughters for Zion. Her passion for inspiring and leading others into the life of Spirit-led prayer continues to take her around the world to minister to believers whose heart cry, like hers, is “Lord, teach me to pray!”
