Does God Bring Bad Things to People?

by Joseph Cameneti | Uncategorized

I have a deep distrust for God. I’ve had bad things happen to me my whole life and the only one I know to blame is God. Why does God do such bad things to people?

God can bring judgment on people and He has throughout Bible history, but we presently are in The Age of Grace. God isn’t the one bringing bad things into your life.

Notice what the Bible reveals about the source of evil:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
(John 10:10-11)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
(1 Peter 5:8-9)

God is the author of good things; the devil is the author of bad things. The best thing to do is to study the Bible and find out what it says about God.

Here are some Scriptures to help get you started:

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
(Rom. 8:32)

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
(Ps. 103:2-5)
