“As it is written, ‘He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.’ Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God” (2 Cor. 9:9-11 KJV).
It is the will of God for every believer to be well supplied with everything they need so that they may be able to enjoy the good life. The good life is not just the “receiving” end. The good life starts when you have so much that you can give to someone else… causing them to lift up their hands to give God praise. All as a result of you obeying God to meet their need.
God is going to do three things for the liberal giver. He is going to give bread for your food, he will multiply your seed sown, and he’ll increase the fruits of your righteousness. He’ll minister, He’ll multiply, and He’ll increase. This is talking about your finances.
Those are three things you might want to include in your confession everyday. God is ministering to my needs. He is multiplying my seeds, and he is increasing my fruits. Notice your end result: “Being enriched or made rich in everything to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God” (v. 11).
God is looking at you with a bountiful eye. As a “liberal giver” He is going to make sure you always have all sufficiency of all things. He will make sure you are made rich in every thing. So I think it is pretty clear in the word of God that God has promised believers abundance.
He has promised us a harvest. He may call it good measure pressed down shaken together running over, or he may call it being made fat. Or he may say your barns are filled with plenty or he just may say you are made rich.
The bottom line is that the believer who is a cheerful, liberal giver is promised a harvest. And when God promises, He follows through with it. You just have to do your part. Your part is to develop yourself as a believer in the area of giving and receiving.
God wants us to be just like Him. He wants His children to act just like Him. And the way we do that is to look into the scriptures to find out who God is. We see that God is liberal. He freely gives.
He promises us that as we are liberal givers (as He is), that He would take care of all of our needs, multiply the seed that we’ve sown, and increase the fruits of our righteousness. And we can depend on God to do what He said.
