Once we have given our lives to Jesus we become Abraham’s descendents and the inheritance God promised to Abraham is now working on our behalf. Galatians 3:29 says, “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you” (NLT). The covenant promise God made to Abraham and his descendents is at work for his seed—that’s you and me!
It has always been God’s plan for each of us to pursue His promises by faith to receive our inheritance. God is looking to you and me to take our place and repossess His wealth in the earth today. We are cut out of the same mold as Abraham. Notice what Isaiah declared hundreds of years ago:
“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the Lord: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him. For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody”
(Isa. 51:1-3 NKJV).
Like Abraham, we have also been called to separate ourselves so God can bless and increase us. He will comfort us and restore all that has been wasted or destroyed in our lives. He will turn the neglected and dry places of our lives into a flourishing testimony of His power. He wants to make our lives as beautiful as the Garden of Eden. It’s His desire to turn our sorrow into joy and gladness. But this time He will use us to remove the curse that sin has caused and bring His dominion and abundance to the world.
As His family, we are His inheritance and He is ours. Now through faith in our covenant, we take hold of the land, the wealth, and all the things in the earth and make them serve God as they were originally intended. In our hands, the things God has created will bless us and glorify Him. According to Psalm 35:27, God “…has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant” (NKJV).
We are the family of God and heirs of the world. God has dreamed of showing Himself strong on our behalf, and then He can show Himself strong to others through us. As we embrace the dream and seek God’s ways, His dream will become a reality in us. We will see His power begin to touch and change everything we touch—He will begin to prosper us. We will become the living proof of Psalm 25:13: “He shall live within God’s circle of blessing, and his children shall inherit the earth” (TLB).
Let’s embrace the inheritance God’s promised us today. It belongs to us!
