“He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
Why did Jesus come in the first place? It was so He might destroy, put an end to, make mincemeat of the works of the devil. He simply obliterates, wipes out, demolishes, and eradicates what the devil does. The power of God is no match for the influence of the devil. It’s like comparing the Lion of the tribe of Judea to an ant. No contest.
The Message Bible says: “Those who make a practice of sin are straight from the Devil, the pioneer in the practice of sin. The Son of God entered the scene to abolish the Devil’s ways.”
This being so, why do people struggle so much with the works of darkness? The key is that we are no match for the devil in our own strength and ability. Our victory is our relationship with Jesus. If we don’t develop that and learn to take advantage of our rights in Christ, we may very well feel like an ant facing a gorilla. Trust Jesus.
Jesus manifested Himself to destroy the works of the devil in my life. Praise God.
