With And Without Jesus

by Tim Davidson | Uncategorized

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

(John 15:5)

Jesus only allows us two different views of ourselves in the Scriptures. One is who we are and what we have and what we can do in life with Him. That is a long list of very positive and powerful promises. The other view is what our potential in life is without Him. This prognosis doesn’t look good no matter what we may try to do.

The Message Bible says: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.”

In the world’s view it may look like people are really accomplishing a lot in life without Jesus. But when the test of eternal time is applied to these accomplishments do they amount to anything? Jesus says that without Him, what you end up doing will not turn out to be a hill of beans.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Without Jesus I can do nothing of eternal value. Praise God, I’m not without Him.
