But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation.
Under the Old Testament the high priests ministered their sacrifices in either a tent or tabernacle that was made by human hands. These priests also had human faults and failures of their own to deal with.
But Jesus served in a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made by human hands; that is, His physical body served as God’s dwelling place. It was perfect because Jesus had no faults and failures of His own.
The Message Bible says: But when the Messiah arrived, high priest of the superior things of this new covenant, he bypassed the old tent and its trappings in this created world and went straight into heaven’s “tent”—the true Holy Place—once and for all.
Jesus was not like the ones who served before Him, ministering sacrifices to just cover the sin of mankind. Jesus ministered good things to come for mankind by totally removing their sin forever. The difference between these two ministries is like night and day. Jesus ministered good things to come and they are for our benefit.
Jesus, my high priest, ministers to me the good things from heaven to come.
