He Can Relate!

by Dick Mills | Uncategorized

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15 NKJ).

If anybody can relate to us in all our circumstances and fully empathize with us in every situation, it is the Lord Jesus. He grew up in a family with brothers and sisters. He learned a trade, carpentry.

Around age seventeen, He lost His earthly father, Joseph. By choice He remained unmarried. He cared and provided for His mother and unmarried sisters for thirteen years.

At age thirty He left home and began a public ministry, which lasted from three to three and one-half years.

He knew what it was to be followed by crowds of people, and He also knew what it was to suffer loneliness.

In His short lifetime He encountered both love and hate, acceptance and rejection, belief and unbelief. He personally experienced the whole range of human response, including laughter and tears. He lived with people who understood Him and with those who misunderstood Him.

Our Lord knows how to relate to you in your situation because He has been there. A thirteen-year-old girl was praying and telling Jesus all her troubles. Finally she said in desperation, “But why am I telling You all this, Jesus? You don’t know how a thirteen-year-old feels.”

“Yes, I do,” He whispered to her. “I was thirteen once! I understand!”
