“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater.”
We are to give thanks to God because our faith is changing day by day. It is growing and becoming larger in our lives. One translation of this verse says, “Your faith grows exceedingly.” But how do we grow or increase in faith toward God?
The Message Bible says: “You need to know, friends, that thanking God over and over for you is not only a pleasure; it’s a must. We have to do it. Your faith is growing phenomenally; your love for each other is developing wonderfully. Why, it’s only right that we give thanks.”
Faith comes by hearing God and faith grows by putting it into practice. One good indicator that our faith is indeed growing is by the love we have for everyone. The more we love in word and deed, the more capacity we develop for even more faith to grow in our hearts. Your faith will show remarkable growth as your love for each other abounds.
I feed on the Word of God and faith comes. I practice the Word and my faith grows.
