James 1:22
And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. If you don't obey, you are only fooling yourself (NLT). But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (KJV).

God gave us His Word as the foundation on which to base our lives. If we don't obey His Word, we can't expect to receive any of the promises and blessings. We are just fooling ourselves, not God. He knows our hearts and, therefore, knows when we are
serious and mean what we say.

In other words, walk the talk. This is an expectation of all of us in the working environment. If leaders of a company don't do what they promised to their employees and shareholders, they will quickly lose people's confidence and it can mean the end of the company. The same way, God expects us to do the Word and follow His commandments. However, unlike the world, He never loses hope and will always wait for us to repent and obey. He never loses His confidence in us and—because He gave us a free will—He patiently waits for us to choose Him.

Choose today to be a doer of the Word. Verse 25 says, "But if you keep looking steadily into God's perfect law—the law that sets you free—and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."
