“Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”
Jesus died as a lamb, but He arose as our high priest. He not only ministered the appropriate sacrifices to provide us access to the Father by Him, but He is also ministering on our behalf today at the right hand of the Father. This present day ministry includes being our intercessor, our advocate and our shepherd. We must come to know and understand Jesus’ ministry for us now at the Father’s right hand.
The Message Bible says: “That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself.”
Jesus watches over His entire redemptive work. He sees that no part fails or falls short in our lives. This redemption includes what He did for us in His substitution, what the Word declares we are now in Christ, and what the Spirit is doing in us now.
Jesus is my Great High Priest. He enforces the promises of the Word of God in me.
