“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
The role of a mediator is to bridge the gap between two parties. A mediator will reconcile the differences between those two parties and solves their troubles, restoring oneness.
A mediator is the one commissioned to act as an intervening agent. Jesus is all of this and more. God placed Jesus Christ as mediator to bring the fallen and frail society of us humans into God’s good graces once again.
The Message Bible says: “…there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us—Jesus.”
Jesus is the peacemaker between God and man. Because of His finished work of redemption, all the differences that existed between fallen man and righteous God are taken care of. Salvation and new life are available to all.
Jesus, as our mediator, is an umpire who puts His hand on both at the same time. With one hand He touches God the Father, with the other hand He touches all mankind. Oh, what a touch it is!
I have a mediator between God and myself. It is Jesus, and He has resolved all the differences between God and me.
